Carbon Footprint

Big news today on Talk RAdio seemed to be the whole Carbon Footprint thing because of Al Gore being such a lib and environmentalists, and he lives in a 20 room mansion and he pollutes the enviroment 20 times more then a normal person.

I got on the Carbon
Footprint calculator
and it turns out that we as a household use 16 tonnes (it's British). Normal is 18 tonnes. Good to know that we are helping out the environment....

Just some quick pictures

I just have a moment so I thought I would post some quick pics..

This is just a pic I took of him before bed one night cause I felt like it.

This weekend we traveled all the way to Columbia, IL to get Nate this climber. There's a whole story behind it, which I'll have to share with you all later, if Lynn don't beat me to it.

Teenagers (Sheesh)

So, it's saturday afternoon and these teenagers come knocking on our door. Their having a fund raiser and selling Papa John's coupons and free pizza. I bought one, but never really found out what the fundraiser was for. What organization am I supporting?

Sophmores for Obama?

Just for future reference, when you come to the door, please say "Hi, we are raising money for --insert organization here--, would you like to help?".

OH well,

Tomorrow is my birthday, today being the last day that I could climb on the total body elliptical at the Y and enter my age as 32. Guess it will be easier tomorrow, just pressing the same button twice. I guess we'll find out, eh?

TAking tomorrow off from work, to celebrate. We are planning on going to Chuckee Cheese for lunch (more for NAte's benefit, instead of mine), hopeing to wear him down. Then after dinner, I'm having a few friends over for dessert. Should be a fun experience.

Strange thing tonight. our Mail didn't come until like 6:40 at night. STrange to see the postal person driving down the street in the dark.

Later,

Our Finances are Killing me!!!!!

So today I was looking at our Checkbook for the Ed Jones Money Market. Appears that the register part has mold growing in it. Yes, mold. Someone left the checkbook in the rain.... So, I guess I will have to get rid of it.

Happy Northern Hemisphere Hoodie-Hoo Day to you all. I didn't celebrate, but I am sure that my more northerly readers wished they did?

Well, I gotta go help with Dinner.

To be any less of a man

WEll, today I finally fixed the fan light in our kitchen. It was having a problem in that it was buzzing with one light and that one would usually burn out pretty quick.

I had to take out the whole housing and replace each of the light sockets. Not too difficult of a task, given that I HATE WORKING WITH ELECTRICITY. It could shock me you know. BzzzzBzzz.....

This task has brought up to me my lack of "handy maniliness" gene. I'm not too good at doing some of the things around the house. Like I said in a previous post, God blessed us with money so I can pay others to do it for me.

One good think I actually accomplished pretty simply was replacing the doorbell on the outside. Our old one was cracked, but still worked. new one glows... Cool.

One thing I am still dreading is replacing the floor in the kitchen. I have a friend that will help me with it, but frankly, I don't want to do it. I'd rather pay someone to come in and do it.

So, I need to go back to my Christian roots, find out who I really am. I like the statements that Neil Anderson puts out in his Books.

I am accepted... I am God's child. As a disciple, I am a friend of Jesus Christ. I have been justified. I am united with the Lord, and I am one with Him in spirit. I have been bought with a price and I belong to God. I am a member of Christ's body. I have been chosen by God and adopted as His child. I have been redeemed and forgiven of all my sins. I am complete in Christ. I have direct access to the throne of grace through Jesus Christ. I am secure... I am free from condemnation. I am assured that God works for my good in all circumstances. I am free from any condemnation brought against me and I cannot be separated from the love of God. I have been established, anointed and sealed by God. I am hidden with Christ in God. I am confident that God will complete the good work He started in me. I am a citizen of heaven. I have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. I am born of God and the evil one cannot touch me. I am significant... I am a branch of Jesus Christ, the true vine, and a channel of His life. I have been chosen and appointed to bear fruit. I am God's temple. I am a minister of reconciliation for God. I am seated with Jesus Christ in the heavenly realm. I am God's workmanship. I may approach God with freedom and confidence. I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

The whole thing in a much prettier format can be found here.

It doesn't matter if I can lay a floor or not. I'm still valuable in God's eyes...

BTW, Pastor Gene from our church taught me taught. He's a great pastor, but unfortunately, we are getting rid of him due to budget cuts..

Java and Time Change

So, today my co-worker Pandora came to me asking about some of the Time changes that are coming up. Apparently, don't know if you have all heard this, but Spring Time Change is not in April anymore, it's in March. March 11th in fact.

Cool thing about Java is that it can automatically take times and determine if they are Standard Time or Daylight Savings time. Jones is applying a patch for this early in March, so Pandora and I had to look over some programming to see what to do to correct this.

That's when we ran into "the intern's code". He had apparently created his own TimeZone, with his own change rules. Sheesh. I think I helped her figure it all out though.

Lynn is out tonight, so I've just been hanging out. Watched "Superman Returns". Not that great of a movie. They strayed a bit from the mythos.

OH well.

Winter Wonderland

Well, we got about 2 to 5 inches of Snow dumped on us today. Refreshing change. I took the following video of Jackson playing in the snow while Lynn shoveled the drive (she needed to get out).... You can hear Nate banging on the window watching Jackson. He thought it all such a laugh...

Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
Make me warm all over
With a feeling that I'm gonna
Love you till the end of time
Played with Nate on Sunday blowing bubbles. He loved it. I've enclosed the following clip to show you all his laughing and all.

Didn't include the first line to the famous Don Ho sign above. If you want to know what it is, Google "Tiny Bubbles Lyrics".

Today was a pretty interesting day at work. we did a couple of Branch visits again and checked out branch in Kirkwood and one in Creve Coeur. They were a lot different then the one in Overland. The one in CC didn't quite fit the mold of a normal EJ office, since it was a suite in an office building. They were very NICE offices also.

I got Lynn her first Valentine's present tonight. Chocolate covered Strawberries from the Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate Company. C4 looked to be a cool place, lots of Choc, have to head back there sometime again.

We've got another "Big" storm coming into St. Louis again tonight. Funny thing, I was listening to a radio station from Huntsville, AL on Friday and apparently they had this big storm come through on Friday morning, and they like totally dedicated all their air time to just talking about that. But then again, I don't think the Alabamians are quite used to that kind of thing....

Here's another movie I shot of Nate tonight with his car. I'm a little ashamed of how he gets onto it the second time.... Then again, maybe not.....

A boy and his dog.. and his dog.

I found this picture tonight that Lynn had taken of Nate and Jackson. Nate is looking at his little "Snoopy" pull toy that Ms. Vesta got him for his Birthday.

It's a SIT andSpin, not STAND....

So, tonight Nate was in the backroom, showing off how cute he can be to us, yet again. Well, My sister had gotten him a Sit-N-Spin at a yard sale, so he proceeds to stand on it, and walk around the thing. Which of course we laugh at, then he laughs and it all gets to be so fun. Cute kid.... He insisted on a bath before bed tonight so I obliged him.

Today at work, the team went out to India Palace, it's on the 11th floor of the Ho Jo over by the airport. I think the view would have been good like 7 years ago before Lambert took out half of Bridgeton for a runway that won't be used for a long time (9/11 and TWA buyout have really affected STL air traffic).

I don't know what to really think of Indian food. I liked the Butter Chicken. The bread was good too. They like a lot of veggies but it's not cooked and fried up like Chinese food. It's more soupy... Different. I loved the rice pudding and the little desert balls (kind of like a round funnel cake). Great thing was that one of my more affluent Indian co-workers paid the whole Bill. Of course, he knew the owners so maybe he got a discount.

Well, I need to call a couple of guys and finalize plans for Saturday night. we're all going to play Risk or something over at our house.

Was almost lost, but now am found

Well, If you hadn't heard yet, Lynn just got herself a google mail (gmail for short) account. Apparently it is supposed to be the cat's meow. turns out though when she signed up for it, since my blogger account was also a google account, the signup process took my signon account and changed it to be her new e-mail address. Needless to say, it took me a while to get it "corrected". I think she still owns my blog, but I've assigned admin access to a brand new id.

I did sign us up for a google Calendar. It's pretty cool. I've loaded mostly everybodies birthdays into it, so hopefully we don't have an excuse to miss the more important ones. we'll see.

Work was unexciting today. Always is, though, isn't it. I did some one on one training with Pandora, introduced her to some Struts and Java stuff. Exciting.

I see that Google has some API stuff out there. Would be cool to see what i can do with that. We'll see.

No other way around it....

It's cold out there.....

Sunday, February 4

Not an Address... It's a Fortress..

Was reminded tonight that maybe Nate shouldn't have a new address as suggested in Lynn's Blog earlier.

It's not a house.. It's a Fortress....

So, I'll have to get with Nate and we'll have to retool the thing with moats, trou de loups, caltrops, murder holes, abattis, and other asundery medieval fortifications.

Then again, I don't think my 16 month old is ready for murder holes.....
And if he's got all these defenses, how would we get to him?

Maybe when he's 9 YEARS old....

Later,

Friday, February 2

Nite at the Mills.

Met some friends tonight at the St. Louis Mills and I took some of the following pics of Nate playing. He had a blast. HOpefully He goes down pretty good tonight tired...

Here's a movie of him meeting a friend......

Today I did a little training session with some co-workers on doing Java Programming. Kind of hard to explain some concepts. I told them on a lot of it to "read a book". hehe. Java does have a lot of quirks though. Like if you precede a number with a "0" then it assumes it is Octal. So 10 is 10, but 010 is 8?!?!? funny, eh? Haven't hit a problem with that though in any of my programming. Thankfully.

Waiting for the video to upload so that I can post it. It's kind of big, 3 MEG actually.

I'm saving to post the pics until Lynn posts on her blog.

Here's a movie of Nate playing with a shipping box:
